If you had your life to live over would you live it the same?

I know I wouldn't! I have made many mistakes in my life and taken many a course of action I have ultimately regretted. Most of them seemed quite reasonable at the time but turned out to be a wrong move. Like the time I quit my stable and well-payed job for a new career as a self-employed driving instructor. I was (I think) a pretty good instructor but no matter how hard I worked I never did much more than break even. When I was 16 I was determined to join the Royal Navy. I had my career path planned out - I was going to be a radar and radio operator but, for some reason (I can't remember why) I didn't join up - that one is probably my biggest regret! There are other more personal mistakes I'd like to correct but, sadly, the opportunity to do any of this is gone. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and keep going!

What kind of comment is appropriate here? I really don't know. I think the option of 'keep going' is the only reasonable one. Looking back in anger or sorrow doesn't lead anywhere. I've just noticed that I mixed you up with a different member from the USA who makes teddies and has lost a lot of her stuff when there were fires. But you live in Scotland. I was in Edinburgh in 1964. What did you do then? Is there a chance that we met in the streets? :-)

It is, of course, a hypothetical question but someday someone may invent time travel and then, who knows?

@MALUSE In 1964 I was 11 years old and living in the city of my birth, Glasgow. It's not likely we ever came near each other!

@ThreeTeddies Oh, you can't be sure of this! I was in Glasgow, too. I passed through on my way back to London. My (girl) friend and I had been on a hitch-hiking tour through Scotland. We went up to the north coast, then south via the Isle of Skye and Glasgow.. Happy memories!

I try to look ahead instead of backwards. I do think about the past but not decisions I have made. Only loved ones I have lost.

I also try to look forwards but every now and then I see younger friends or family members struggling with major decisions. I can do nothing to help and there is rarely any advice I can give them. I can only hope that their decisions turn out right for them

Of course, I would have to know what I know now. I would have kept all my superhero comic books. Instead of gambling I would have invested the money. Over all, I have not done too badly and I did achieve my important spiritual goals.

I would not change anything. All of the good and the bad has made me who I am now and I am happy with that person.

It is only common sense that most of us would change things based on what we know now.

There are a lot of things in my life I regret but it's pretty useless dwelling on any of them. I only have myself to blame.

I wouldn't change I think. I am who I am today because of the choices I made and I am happy with my life. Sure I have many many mistakes along the way but there was always a lesson learned and another opportunity given. I have no regrets.

I am sure I will live it in different way. I will avoid all the sad parts. Like breaking up before my ex broke up with me haha XD
