Isn't Our Time Valuable?

Hello fellow mylotters!! Hope all is well!! Apparently some people only think that their time is valuable. Example for one: The mother-in-law needed her chimney fixed for her wood burning stove and she needs new shingles put on her house. She's wanting my husband (her son) to do all this. This winter he has been working, his boss quit so they needed some one to stay on to make sure things were going o.k. at the lake. My hubby told her that he would when he got the time. The next thing we know she's posting on FaceBook "begging" the help of our two children to help their grandma with her chimney and roof and while they're down her to move her wood stove and bring it to our house!! This was the first news that she was giving us her wood burning stove!! My husband told her that when he fixed her chimney and roof for payment, let us have her wood burning stove. Her answer was "NO" because the house that my husband had been using for his shop (that she told us we could have and all the other out buildings) was now on her property and she "needed" it for her sewing room and she was going to put the wood burning stove in it!! Apparently when the oldest son was down, he told her to give the stove to us that she would burn her house or sewing room down!!! Well, there was some lack of communication there. But when the hubby went over to tell her that we had no use for it (especially after said we couldn't have it), but she told him that we could have her wood rack and the wood. Well, that very next day she sold the stove!! So the hubby went over after he got off of work to get the wood, because we were getting low and it was suppose to get that night and she gave the wood and rack away!! So, just because we didn't get it even though she said we could have it, we didn't go over when she thought we should, she just gave it away!! Then the oldest son, for the last weeks has suppose to come and get a couple of vehicles that we have that don't run. Every time he says he's going to come, we have to stick around and we stick around and he never comes, he doesn't even call!! Do people only think they're time is valuable?? Why say you're going to do something if you don't?? Rant is over!!! ~Peace~

She sounds like quite the lady. I think I would not trust what she says anymore.

Hope you feel better now. Some people will always try to take advantage.

Some serious conversations round the family table may be needed.

Usually venting can help people feel better about things :) Think of it this way, in a year from now this wont matter to you anymore so dont feel frustrated because this situation is temporary. Other similar situations might happen but just look at them as no big deal and your frustrations will go away and you will feel happier :)
