Chicken cacciatore is in the slow cooker

Dinner is in the slow cooker. It should be good and a nice meal for a stormy way. We didn't get much snow but now we are having freezing rain and the winds have really picked up. We are expecting heavy rain this afternoon which will cause a lot of flooding in the low lying areas. We live up on a hill so we have nothing to worry about. Most businesses have decided not to even open today. It is a good day to stay inside if you don't have to go out. Do you use a slow cooker? If so, what is your favorite meal to cook in it?

@Happy2BeMe I was like that with our dish-washer, never had one, didn't want one but you'd have to fight me for it now.

We have a slow cooker, but I usually only use it when we are taking a dish to a potluck as it holds so much. We're having chicken and dumplings for supper tonight-comfort food on a cold day. I hope that you stay safe during this storm, you are really getting a little bit of everything aren't you? The sun is shining here today, but it is bitterly cold and windy out.

I use it occasionally. I use it for my ribs. Yesterday, used it for chicken curry. I need more recipes for it.

I wish I could convince the kids that chicken cacciatore is a delicious meal. It has too many vegetables that they hate and *gasp!* chicken with bones! I'm using the Instant Pot a lot more these days, but I still enjoy using my slow cooker from time to time. I make kalua pork in it, plus I like to make steel cut oats for breakfast in the slow cooker. I get slow cooker liners from Dollar Tree to keep the oats from sticking to the crock.

@Happy2BeMe Oh, they're wonderful! I've even been known to put all my dinner ingredients in the liner and to store it all in the fridge overnight (with a twist tie at the top keeping it all closed). In the morning I put the whole thing in the slow cooker, remove the twist tie, pull the sides, down put the lid on, and let it cook on low all day. They are so convenient!

Slow cookers are the best, I love when we make chicken n dumplings. Though, when my mom puts ribs those always turn out the best. Stay warm and dry!

It is an electric pot that you use to cook meals slowly. It usually takes all day to cook a meal on low temperature.

A slow cooker is nearly at the top of my list for favourite kitchen inventions. I mostly do casseroles, but it turns out a mean veggie chilis and currys.

Yes, I've had a slow cooker for a long time, but never used it. A couple months ago, I got it down off a shelf and made some chicken stew. It was delicious, so now I use our slow cooker often! Probably our favorite meal was a pork roast, with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Ribs are good, too!
