I just joined a site called FutureLearn. It has all sorts of free courses for just about anything that interests you. The courses are free and most are short term for a couple of weeks. I am excited to start an archeology course. I have always been interested in the subject. There are different activities, comments, and quizzes. I don't get anything for mentioning it, just want to make people aware that it is there. A lot of people might like the genealogy course. Try exploring and see if something catches your interest. www.futurelearn.com

I got a page cannot be found. I copied and pasted the address into the address bar and came up with it that way. The site has a lot to offer.

Yes, from deep subjects to things you just want to learn. And free is the right price.

@just4him I have seen Harvard and Yale courses for free, too. I should have signed up. They had one on Paul's travels in the Bible.

I have seen the site, but I didn't take any of the courses. There seem to a be a lot of different subjects, and I am pretty sure that I would be able to find something that I am interested in. I will return to the site when I have more free time. It sounds like a good way to learn new things.

Yeah, an interesting way to spend your time. The courses are not that long and you can upgrade to get a certificate. I'm not sure what good a certificate would do.

@akalinus Yes, I saw that it was possible to upgrade and get a certificate. I don't need a certificate. I will just stick to the free part of the site.

@Porcospino That's what I am doing for now. It is easier to get writing jobs if you are an expert in something so I might think about the certificate but for now, the free stuff.

I have heard of the site before. I see things on sites like that and they seem cool but not anything I'd be too terribly interested in. I did follow one course about celtic legends but it wasn't as interesting as it seemed. Which was probably more the course layout than the subject itself.

There is good and bad in everything. Some of the instructors in the class I am taking are boring but the information is exciting to me.

@akalinus I'm glad you still find it exciting. I guess it just depends on the subject and the learner.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You need to pick something you care about enough to take a course.

That's cool. If you take one of the courses, you could talk to each other about archeology.

I'm heading to the site to check it out. I guess it's open to other countries. Isn't the internet incredibly marvellous in some ways?

Yes, I think it is available in other countries and other languages. Someone told me they were glad it is offered in Hindi. Of course, you can't take it in Australia because it does not exist. You could try anyway.
