How on earth do some people manage to gain a driving licence?

For the second day in a row I've had a near miss with some numpty driving a car! Neither occasion was my fault (honestly) but both occasions required some sharp evasive action from me to avoid an accident. Generally speaking the standard of driving in the UK is quite good (the test is a tough one) but it seems that over time some people forget what they were taught and start to drive with their eyes closed - or so it seems! What's it like in your country?

Everyone here acts like you are supposed to always let them have the right of way.

@wolfgirl569 If another driver insists on having the right of way I would let him. It's more sensible than having an accident

Similar to there I think. The test is tough and new drivers have to complete a log book for some time before their test. They are required to do so many hours at night and I THINK, in the rain and on gravel roads but of course once they get their licence some young ones get over-confident. And losing your licence here, among older people, seems to mean nothing as they continue to drive and get caught and do it again.

i live in the northeast.it's usually the out of state tourists that cause the nightmares. they have no idea how to drive in a colonial town with narrow streets-and if it rains or snows, they seem to have mental breakdowns over it.

@scarlet_woman Driving in all conditions should be a part of every country's driving test

The standard of driving is good here, but we are very close with the Italian border and 60,000 Italians come in every day to work... I think I said enough. (I can criticize them, I am Italian too).

@ThreeTeddies Standards of driving are often different in different countries but that's no excuse for bad driving

@ThreeTeddies Italians do not respect the rules, they look at their smartphones, they do not respect priorities, they speed too much. They should be a bit more respectful when they are abroad, then they complain when they are fined.

@ThreeTeddies Drivers in Israel are nuts. When they sit in traffic they have to honk their horns but cannot move anywhere. They have to feel like they are doing something so they honk.

@ThreeTeddies They do that out of frustration and I also feel that they do because it is hard to sit there with traffic not moving.
