Staying flexible of mind helps us to learn the most

Elvis, the bird, singing up a storm!

Elvis was a renowned singer and song-writer, and he learned something from every attempt at composing songs, and from his singing of them too. We all learn from everything we do, and this builds in us a platform of learning which we then go further from. Nothing can be built on sand, and a platform of rock does no better if it is too rigid to learn from anything as well. No, the way to learn is to stay open, and flexible of mind, so that you might get new insights each time you do something and everything will improve then from everything else gone before. I am a chameleon and usually blend in where ever I need to. That way I learn a lot.

@Courage7 Yes, sometimes we need to "hiss" a little, even if we never "bite" someone....when we show our snaky side.....LOL... Life goes on for us. I hope you are coping ok too.

Yes, that's also a good approach. Not to have too many rough edges that stick out of you, and give others only splinters, fitting in smoothly is a great idea.

Thanks. That reminds me of what my Dad used to say too. He was referring to two different types of trees. "Be like the willow and bend, not like the oak, that refuses to bend, and so just snaps in a strong wind."

@responsiveme Yes, I agree. Probably a lot of such quotes are similarly matched to the areas in which people live.

Yes, we can always learn something useful, interesting and even important by keeping an open mind. Also we need to be watchful, cautious and aware sohat we are not deceived. Elvis was a great and talented singer but was a poor navigator of life. (Luke 9:25)

Yes, you are right. It doesn't matter how open our mind is, if our ladder has been placed up against the wrong wall, we will end up in the wrong place. Navigation is also important. We need to get on, and to stay on the right path in our life.

I have never regretted staying open and flexible of mind. I wish I was taught such basics earlier. In fact, we should teach this timeless wisdom to children in school. It goes with staying curious as scientific minds do. We should find our own path than accept what others say as the gospel truth whoever they may be - siva

Flexibility of mind is related to the love in our hearts. Love is flexible at all times when it remains unconditional, because it allows for all of itself to be operating at all times, but as soon as it is restricted, this accomplishes little, because it empties love of itself and replaces that love with our own ego-self then instead. So when this occurs we live inflexibly then from our ego, rather than from the love part of our self, which is our soul or higher self, rather than our base nature, or our lower self.

@innertalks Yes Steve, we should never forget we are interconnected, part of the whole. We should move towards a borderless world, existence; at least, bring down artificial barriers erected due to our divisive nature. Yes, the inborn love is suppressed when ego and selfishness rear their ugly head - siva

@innertalks Yes, we can emotionally connect with anyone. If someone is suffering we can know the pain they undergo and even rise to the occasion to alleviate it to the extent we can. Beyond our five senses, we have love, empathy, etc that are more enduring. However, we tend to suppress the latter to lead a superficial life, skimming the surface of our true potential - siva
