Would you ever give your entire money and property to your children?

I heard a few stories, where the parents gave their entire property to their children and later were ill treated by them. They did it out of love as they felt their kids needed it and as they were anyways old, they could trust their kids who were grown up and responsible.
Unfortunately, in one case, I even heard the mother was forced to leave the house. Thank fully, one of her relatives helped her.
So, would you ever give your entire money and property to your children and not keep even a penny for yourself? Do you trust them to that extent?

A few years ago, I did have a very terse discussion on that issue with my daughters. Terse because when I told them I would bequeath to them my properties, they answered that I can do whatever I want with my houses and lots, sell them if I will, because they would buy their own anyway.
But of course, I would give them the properties soon enough, and not wait for a time when I am ill and dying. My daughters won't throw me away. I already told them I want to be stashed in some hut in the mountain, when I am no longer able,
Good post.

@Sheali The situation you mentioned does happen often enough here in my country. Sigh.
Hey, you write well.

Hi, Thanks a lot for appreciating the post and for the nice response. You seem to be really attached to your daughters and they seem to be very understanding as well. This is the kind of bond that actually should be there in any relationship.
I hate to hear such stories but it is an ugly truth.

A question I never think in mind. My children are students at present so I think it is not time for thinking that way. Still time left
I too heard many stories like that, even I know few real incidents. Those people who are involved in the act will face the same in their future life. 'Every action got and equal and opposite reaction'.

@Sheali What they are doing for their parents at present, comes back to them when they get old. If you are good and kind to your parents then only you will be treated well in a later period. A very simple and real fact in life. I agree, human beings are not aware about this and they just live on 'present'.

That is the stupidest thing to do One does that in a will where children get to enjoy whatever, after the demise of parents.

No, not everything. In this country there is a big tax advantage if you give away assets and then live for seven years (or more) afterwards, you don't pay inheritance tax which is currently 40%, so it could be a huge saving for your heirs. However you never really know how another person will behave.

@Sheali That is really sad! I don't like hearing when people become so nasty after nice things have been done for them.
If I was dying I would give my things to those I love and trust.

I have no such dilemma as I have no children.
