When you call a number do they record your conversation?

I had to make an overseas phone call yesterday and they record the conversation and so while I was on hold I did My lot but with one hand mostly. I was on hold a long time so could check other places too. What do you do when you are put on hold and they are recording you? Do you sing or make funny sounds to amuse yourself and help the time go by faster?

Usually, when I talk to the phone with someone from a company, they record the conversation, but only after asking for permission. When they put me on hold I wait a little then put the phone on speaker and do something else. Watching some tv.

@Hannihar if you continue the conversation it means you agree to be recorded . It happens here too.

Certain companies let me know they are recording the conversations. When put on hold, I put the speaker on and do other things.

@Hannihar I can see why you'd be getting a huge bill!

@DianneN Thanks and that is life but if I can go back to work again then can take care of the large bill.

@JohnRoberts I understand. I figure I might as well stay on the line and only make one international call or local one so have to pay one time instead of two but I have had periods where I had to continue to call overseas to straighten something up and it was straightened out at this end. They did not help me really.

Many businesses and other organisation do record our conversations with them. When told this I usually respond by saying that I am also recoring the conversation!

I usually just put the phone on speaker and go about my business. If they are interested in my "business," I suppose it could be fun for them. I mean, my "business" can be quite...ummm...interesting I suppose...
I REALLY need to give up drinking.
