Back From the Beach

On Monday we drove from Ocala to my brother's in St. Augustine. He has a vacation home directly on the Atlantic Ocean. For the last 32 years, they have rented their condo every winter but they both have retired so this winter they are there and we went to join them. Unfortunately, the weather was cold and we didn't go walking on the beach but we did walk around his neighborhood. We have stayed here before but usually in the fall when he sometimes had an open week. I love standing on one of the balcony's and smelling the sea and feeling the ocean breeze. It is a two-hour drive. We enjoyed our time away, we ate at a bunch of restaurants we have never tried before, sat and talked and just enjoyed each others company. I have not had this much time with my sister-in-law in years. Now we are back home and today our winter pool exercise at our indoor pool starts. We are looking forward to it and seeing the people we exercised with last year.

I also love the smell of the sea, it's the only thing I miss here in Switzerland and I regret from our times on the French Riviera.

I went out several times a day and even night just to smell the sea and listen to the waves crashing, it was wonderful.

@LadyDuck That will be lovely, I have always wanted to visit the south of France but now I suspect that will never happen.

Welcome home! Did you bring me that water from the Fountain of Youth? lol So glad you had a great time. The weather has been pretty cold here, too. And that smell of the ocean is why we live here. Nothing better!

@DianneN and @Belle Star Deluna did not look for the Fountain of Youth in the St. Augustine region, but along the Panhandle where the first European settlement was and abandon after a hurricane and then reestablished after St Augustine which is known as the first permanent settlement. and before you ask I have no idea where it could be.

@BelleStarr Down here it is damp cold that can go right to your bones. Some of the temps we think are cold down here up North where it is more of a dry cold folks laugh seein up bundle up for the same temp they would be wearing less. Ahumid cold feels worse than a dry cold.

That sounds like a beautiful location, and a wonderful time spent with your brother and his wife. I was out for a walk a little earlier, and its a bitterly cold day here, enjoy your warmth.

I know, I love it, I just stand there and take deep breaths, it smells like the inside of a sea shell.

Really depends on the time of year We drove around the other night to look at the Christmas lights which are still up and we could have parked just about anywhere we wanted. He lives out on the island so it is quiet.
