Why Don't I?

A myLotter inspired this discussion... I was asked why do I not get a real job instead of working on-line... Well, I have no vehicle. The myLotter said they do not either. I am happy that the person manages to get to work for 45 hours a week. I am not as fortunate. What do I really like? I get to make my own hours. I can work as much as I want or as little as I like from anywhere I like. No bumper-to-bumper traffic. No high cost of gasoline. No car upkeep. No car insurance. Telecommuting can be a "real" job if you put the work and effort into it. I also do side hustles. Have a super day. I am not mad. I simply wanted to explain myself.

Envy you. You own your time, you're not contributing to traffic and pollution, and you have side hustles. Envy.

Good for you but really you shouldn't have to explain yourself. No-one knows another person's full story or circumstances.

I would love to be earning a living online. I admire you. There are others here that work online and make a living.

As long as you can make it work, more power to you!

Some people can't work and don't have the means to get around. I'm retired. All my work now is on the computer, here, Swagbucks, or working on a book.

@Spontaneo It's a lot of work. I work harder writing a book than I ever did working.

@just4him Last year, I bought a book at a thrift store about how to write romances. Maybe one day I might read the book. Did you study about writing or did you just write period?

I think it is awesome that you do what you do and at the same time not only really enjoy it, but you don't have to deal with the daily commute. That is a plus in my own opinion.

I understand that you do side hustles. But there is public transportation. There is always a way to work, if you have the drive to go out and do it. I have a hard time beliving that you earn a living wage working online.

It is possible to earn a living online. But it takes the same dedication as regular work and isn't for everyone just like waitressing or any other job.

Where I live, there is no public transportation. No way to get to the next closest town, but walking. Many people do make a living online. Not me, yet, unfortunately. I could have an offline job, but right now I never know when my husband is going to need emergency care. I have been offered jobs in various places, but I cannot commit to a regular schedule right now.
