Is performing shirtless at the Super Bowl okay?

I didn't even catch when it happened but Adam Levine decided to take his shirt off during his Super Bowl halftime show. i take off my eyes from the TV for a second and all of a sudden I see Adam without a shirt. I wonder why he choose to do it. Though his body is very presentable was it really necessary do so? I heard some people were outraged that this happened and compared this to the time when Janet Jackson's boob was exposed at the Super Bowl halftime show years ago... I can kinda see their point. If it's not okay for a woman's boob to be exposed why is it okay for a guy to showcase his chest to the world? Why should it be any different? Shouldn't matter if it is a man or a woman performing. Neither should expose themselves or wear very revealing outfits during performances on national TV.

I seen everybody going on about it. I think it is ridiculous. I didn't see anything wrong with him removing his shirt, Lots of guys go shirtless. You see it all the time.

But why did he have to do it? If it's because he was hot, it's not like he was performing that long that he couldn't just tough it out. I don't mind Adam without a shirt but I don't think it was necessary to take it off.

I assume he does it on stage all the time - after all, he needs to make use of all his tattoos and show them off . But it is a double standard - it was ok for Adam, but not for Janet.

@lovebuglena I guess that was the highlight of the half time show - maybe the entire Super Bowl . Yah, Janet had a costume malfunction . . . maybe Adam had a shirt malfunction .

Maybe he thinks it will increase his popularity or something. It doesn't particularly worry me but like you, I don't know why it's necessary.

@lovebuglena I don't really have a lot of time for PETA. They go off half-cocked about things they really know nothing about.

He is popular enough already. And him doing it seems to have sparked a controversy. I also read that PETA came after Big Boi for wearing a fur coat at the halftime show. What's wrong with wearing a fur coat during a performance?

I didn't see when it was done either, but I'm not mad over it. He's a guy, they normally go shirtless. And I'm sure he does at his own shows too. So why would the superbowl be any different? As it is 'his' little halftime show. Comparing a mans chest being shown to a females, is just stupid to me.

Women are always banned, while men are always permitted.

Yeah. Where is equality in that?
