My best friend came to visit

Last weekend I was so happy to have one of my best friends sleep over at our house. She's been one of my dearest friends from college and we have been through a lot together. Since I got married and relocated, however, our meetings have become rare and quick. I miss the days when we would just call each other and then agree to meet up in a coffee shop just to talk about life. We enjoyed long walks and window shopping as well. I'm thankful that despite my friend's gout problems, she made an effort to commute to my place and spend time with me and my daughters. She stayed only for 2 days here but it was so worth it already. We talked and talked and made plans. She helped me clean up my house and cook breakfast. My friend is single and without kids. She's like an aunt to my kids and she's like family to me and my siblings. I'm really thankful to have a long-time friend to whom I can share almost anything that's going on in my life. I wish her good health and a long life. Do you have a friend that you wish you could meet and talk with right now? (Image by Pixabay)

That is so wonderful that you are still close friends after all the years. I have some friends that I would like to see that I haven't in quite sometime but it never seems to work out for us to get together.

I've had the same problem for many years until I could no longer take the loneliness living in my neck of the woods and missing my friends who lived in the city. I began to meet a few for like once a year. This year I hope to meet those whom I haven't seen for over a decade.

E-mail is a blessing, isn't it? I remember communicating with a few close friends via email too and it really helped keep the relationship going.

How long have you been away? Have you had the chance to meet a few of your friends since you stayed in Korea?

I like having "alone time" with friends. I don't enjoy large crowds, as I've always preferred quiet moments when we could privately talk about what's going on in our lives.

I hope you and your friend get the chance to meet up, Matt. It's never the same even with social media. It's still best to be together physically and talk.

I have a few friends that are very close to me. And I have friends that are so close to me that they have adopted me as part of their family. Today, they are taking me out for lunch.

I hope you get the chance to see each other this year. My best friend lives in the capital which is about 2 hours drive from my province. It's taken us over 2 years to see each other again.

That's true, Jo. Sometimes the busyness of life and the allure of social media take away the joy of talking and doing things together or simply just being together. I'd like to do more than just talk next time. Perhaps go for long walks or have a picnic with friends. Just like the good old days.

Cool. Yeah I miss talking to my best friend. She has a son tat she takes care of and works weird hours. I wish we could have sleep over, but she's allergic to cats (I have one cat), and I'm afraid of dogs. (she has two dogs.)

Uh-oh. I suppose you will have to meet elsewhere! I've the same issue with a friend who lives with her 3 cats. I'm allergic to cats and can't stand them being so close to me, so my friend and I rarely meet in her apartment.
