This fruit is abundant in our region because the processing plant of Del Monte is located in our place. Del Monte is one of the preferred brands for pineapple chunks, tidbits, catsup, fruit juices among others. Some do not like fresh pineapple because it hurts the tongue but I've got a solution to that. Eat it fresh with pinch of salt.

Oh Del Monte is in CDO. You are lucky to be near their place. I juice pineapple with carrots or wintermelon.

If it's perfectly ripe it does not hurt the tongue. We like pineapple in a fruit salad.

It hurts the tongue if some of the eyes of the skin are left on the fruit. We have to peel it well. My macaroni and fruit salad is not complete without pineapple.

I don't like the taste of pineapple at all. The flavor is okay on candy, but not the actual fruit.

I love pineapple, I ate one yesterday. Pretty big one actually . It was good, but it left my tongue a little aching. Maybe because it was really cold? From the fridge? Or was it something else? Dunno...

@florelway yup! Even my two year old son likes it. I'll try to translate what he calls it, it's something like "eapple" .

I visited the Del Monte Plantation in Hawaii, and yes, I love sweet, ripe pineapples. I never tried them with salt.

There are times when some pineapples aren't that sweet so we combat the sour taste with a pinch of salt but it's also good for the sweet ones.

I do eat but I also prefer those in tin cans because you will just remove the lid and enjoy the fruit without so much hassle on peeling and removing it's holes. There are already peeled and sliced sold in the streets but I'm not sure if those were still in good quality. Nice tip you have there.

@ZedSmart, I am not so keen on buying those peeled and sold in the streets, some are too ripe and taste differently and besides I am not sure if they have been properly washed.
