Strange music: #7 "A Strange Day" The Cure (1988)

Like Morrissey and the Smiths, the Cure are another iconic alternative band commanding a large loyal cult following. The Cure are the kings of goth gloom and doom personified by crazy haired lead singer and creative force Robert Smith. From the album “Pornography,” “A Strange Day” is writing credited to original members Smith, Simon Gallup and Lol Tolhurst and not released as a single. “Pornography” went uncharted in the US but UK #8. There is nothing remarkable about “A Strange Day” except possessing classic Cure sound. The Cure came together in 1976 and continues on with fan favorite Smith the only constant member. The band was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
