On Sunday a friend and I went down to Wellington for one of our girls trips away. We drove down and stopped at a small town called Otaki where we wandered through the Sunday market before having lunch. The sun was shining and we found a nice table under the shade, so it was a pleasant stop.
Once at the hotel we relaxed and enjoyed the magnificent Harbour view from our window for just over an hour. We considered going for a walk around Oriental Parade but we'd both either walked or swam a considerable distance in the morning before leaving.
The main focus of our visit was to attend a 6pm performance of Madiba the Musical - a musical about South African Nelson Mandela. The show was excellent, we both thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
We chose a little Italian restaurant close to our hotel after the show and were delighted when the dancing cast came in and sat nearby. Both of us were too shy to go and tell them how much we'd enjoyed the show.
On Monday morning, after checking out of the hotel, we had breakfast around on the waterfront at a little cafe based in an old moored tugboat.. The sun shone and the water looked amazing - a perfect end to our short trip to the capital.
By early afternoon our little escape was over, we were both back home and normal life resumed. It's nice having a break from routine occasionally.

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend time with your friend. I’m not shy and have gone right up to cast members or actors and complemented them on their performances. They were always appreciative. Tonight, we’re going out to dinner with our very accomplished and well known neighbor, a playwright and his lovely wife.
