Elder siblings are as caring as parents

In few cases, I have seen when there is a age gap of about 5 or more years, the elder siblings take care of their younger siblings. Give them their share of chocolates or help them in doing Home Work, or fighting with others who bully their young buddies. It is a very cute relation that they share. Sometimes, guarding like a parent and at times teasing like a friend. Picture from google images Do you agree that elder siblings are sometimes as caring as parents?

I have observed that that is true with an age gap of 4 or more years. But not when they are just a year older from each other. The second one tends not to obey the older one but acts as if they are just of same age.

@LadyDuck That's nice to know Anna. My sister who is just a year younger than me, won't obey me unless I tell our father that she won't obey me.

Yes I agree, I have a younger brother (1 year and half younger), mom was very busy when we were kids and I always had a look on him, his first word was not Mom, but Anna. When I was 6 and started to go to school, he liked to learn from me.

That is so sweet. I love to see such relations where you have someone who is a friend also and a guardian also

My sons have age gap of 6 years and both are like snake and mongoose But I agree if there is wide age gap elders are more caring. Again it depends on the individual and their maturity.

@Sheali Yes, they will, younger one is bit smarter so try to eat elder's ears which definitely makes him annoying. Here comes the problem. At the same time they are close too.Weird but true.

My brothers were, specially the eldest. Sadly, I never knew or appreciate what he does until I have grown old enough to understand it.

I was the oldest of 3 children and often had to be in charge of my 2 brothers. We were close in age, but they listened to me most of the time.

@Sheali I do agree that some elder siblings take care of their younger siblings like a parent would. Which is always very sweet to see. Sadly I have seen it the other way too where older siblings will treat their younger siblings in such a mean manner. Not sure why that happens. Possibly jealousy or just have a mean streak in them.

sometimes when the age gap is too less they are jealous as they feel parents love the younger one.. they are on their laps

I think so. This is why some parents will think it is better to have one more child. At least they can take good care of each other when they grow up. Parents can't look after children forever, one day they will be gone before us.
