Mazes are not made from corn even if the corn is grown in a maze.

I have heard them call it Maize. From a large corn field, the children emerge in that movie, Children of the Corn. People usually never see what a corn plant actually looks like but when I was a kid, living in Southern Indiana, a lady living across the way from our house actually grew her own corn and gave us kids some corn on the cob to enjoy. We shucked that corn and mamma made corn on the cob for lunch. Nothing like the taste of freshly grown back yard corn off, I mean corn ON the cob with butter & salt & pepper. Yum. It's A-maizing to do. I decided to find a picture of a field of corn just for the title of this post. I bet most people never saw an open corn field or even saw a real scare crow MAN in the middle of it. To make sense out of all this, simply look at the article about Maize from Wikipedia. It's one of the places to go for fast info on just about everything. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maize Take a look at this YouTube and enjoy!
As tasty as grilled corn on the cob can be—you know, that grilled Mexican street snack slathered in mayo and sharp cheese—I think it's eclipsed by another st...

My dad used to grow corn in our garden. We didn't have a huge field, but we had plenty of corn on the cob. Always delicious, except when they had worms in them,

@lookatdesktop tastes very different too. If you really want to get confused take a look at this article I found when I ventured to learn more about corn. They say it's a grain, veggie, fruit etc.

@RasmaSandra , Now that sounds a little bit CORNY. Corn can not be all three. Well, So good housekeeping magazine says it is all 3. Good grief.

Yep. I have even heard that corn is considered a grain or for that matter, a grass. But I think there is a big difference between eating corn on the cob and eating grass from the lawn like a billy goat.

I think corn is a very versatile food source. You can do lots of things with it and it is usually added to other meals and in casseroles. It is an excellent food source in my opinion.

@Dextoi , I like rice. My wife cooks rice with chicken stock and adds chicken to it and broccoli and other vegetables. I think it's good to eat a variety. The street vendors sell corn in a cup here in Dallas.

Indeed, we grow a lot of corn in our country but not as much as we grow rice... I also love having corn as staple aside from rice... but not until summer... i'm on a low carb diet.. LOL

Corn chips are something I never grow tired of. I mean, Fritos brand corn chips. Corn in a cup aka Elotes is also a very good thing to snack on when I get lucky to run across a vendor who is selling it on the side.

Yes, Those who grill enjoy it with their meals. You can put chili powder and sour cream and grated cheese on it . I prefer having it with the simple topping of melted butter.

This is a very wide spread food. It is mass produced on huge commercial farms and I guess Monsanto corporation has modified it so it is a hybrid, like so many other foods grown commercially in the US. I prefer fresh corn at the market, not so much canned, because canned corn is pretty mushy and lacks the crunch factor that frozen or fresh can give you.

You may have noticed that I am Venezuelan, I know the culture of corn. Venezuelans as well as Mexicans grow corn and eat it in different ways, a tradition we inherited from our ancestors. I agree with you, nothing like the taste of a cob boiled or roasted in coals
