In less than two weeks I made my five dollars, now I can hibernate. Day two of giving up my addiction and cactus.

I made my five dollars For the first time ever I made five dollars before the month is over. I did get a good head start being close before last month ended and carrying it over, but I've been here before and still barely squeezed the pennies in under the wire. Often I'd have to wait another month to see the results. I don't know whether the dollar sign has shown up in mylot yet for January and I'm not talking about that as I Did not make it then. I will be fine for the coming month though. Usually, it takes me until the last week at least to get this far. And I attribute this to the help of every one of you along with... Day two of giving up my addiction I gave up something that I spend way too much time on and I think I'm doing fairly well so far although today was a bit harder than yesterday. I gave up playing my games. I mostly played gummy drop, constantly on my phone. I also played two puzzles and a solitaire game found on Facebook on my desktop. I almost always had either my phone handy or one of my games open on the desktop and after mylotting for a bit or doing some other task I would play a game or more for too long. That is the main reason I can't get caught up in the winter months because I'm playing games for far too many hours at a time. In the summer I am busier working the second job but I still find time to play at least on my phone. Yesterday I found myself going for my phone in the morning and then remembering I'd uninstalled my game. Today I had a harder time later in the day not opening Facebook and doing a puzzle or something. I spent the better part of the morning shoveling and using the snow blower so I wasn't drawn to play games until later. I got a bunch of stuff done and whittled my notifs down to 19 the second day in a row. Tomorrow I will try to visit my mom and do some book work. I have years of filing waiting for my help but I expect to mylot in between more than before instead of playing the games. My reasoning behind giving this up is because: 1. it is an addiction for me 2. I feel called to give it up 3. I want to do and go where God leads me 4. I need time to pray for the calming of various weather systems by giving God my permission to help 5. And I needed time to read and study scripture more and more 6. Get some extra cleaning done and stay in touch if it for a change at least until summer. There are probably a multitude of other reasons too like finishing last years bookkeeping especially what's due by months end, and I may have less time next week if I still have to do jury duty. My cactus My cactus is blooming once again a bit early for Easter and again after being neglected. But it brightens my day so all is good

Sometimes we have to give up things and focus of the important things to do.

Very true. Some things are harder to give up than others.

That is a lovely cactus. I had a blooming one too back in Latvia and it would bloom at different times. I try to divide my time as best I can. I do all my work on my PC but I am also finding time for reading and artwork.

Mylot leaves me plenty of time it's the games I've had a hard time staying away from. Maybe one day I can play them for a limited time once I've broken the habit.

I gave up playing games to read more and to spend more time keeping my house tidy and clean.

@MarshaMusselman I usually review the books I read, also some items I buy online.

@LadyDuck I do the same but these I got for free with the request that I give a review. I've had them for a few months, but had another copy before and should have done it already.

I may be able to leave them alone longer than I originally planned and I'm now charger up about getting different things done. I also owe an author a review. I've read her book at least three times but want to read it again before reviewing it. It's time to quit putting it off.

I played Bejeweled Blitz on FB but found I had to putz around with flash in order to play it, so gave it up. I miss it at times, but not like when I first gave it up. I still play two computer games - solitaire and mahjong to keep my brain healthy. There's also an interactive multiplayer game I play, but I spend only about 10 minutes on there. I spend more time here than I do anything else. I've decided to spend my morning here and my afternoon writing as I wasn't getting any writing/book work done. So that is my plan moving forward. I do my Bible Study before I do anything else with my day, other than watch the weather report so I know what to wear. However, before I do anything, including eating, my Bible study is my top priority. Then I'm ready to get on with my day. Good to see your cactus blooming. I'm glad you've made the payout for this month.

You realize the payout is for the payment next month for Feb, not the one everyone got yesterday? I've been reading my bible and praying in the morning before doing anything else, but today I'm heading to exercise for the first time this month, so will catch up upon my return.

@just4him three more pennies and I'm up to six. It will be years I'm guessing before I get twenty per month or ever.

Flowers do brighten up things and ...Chocolates too. I am sure you will balance the gaming . My lot becomes an addiction with me sometimes ....Last month I wanted to see if I could make 10 dollars. I did. This month I will use the site just to keep in touch with the people who I regularly chat with

At present I'm balancing the gaming by not doing it. Had I been balancing it all along I wouldn't need to give up completely.

@responsiveme yes, will some things draw some of it more than others. I've always been drawn to games and when the electronic games and PC games showed up well...

Well, I expect to be here more now that I won't be wasting away my time on my games. But, I also expect to be doing some of the other things needing done too while I can. I still have one game on my phone, but I've barely played it in the last few months and that one is easier to stay away from. Now, if I were to begin the game again, I might do it more, but at present, I won't do that. So, you've been here a while now. When are you going to find a fitting image for your avatar instead of the generic green one? You don't have to have one of yourself if you don't want that, you can do just about any image you own that's appropriate or some scenery in your area or something. Do you know how to upload images here?

@fluffy69 So are many of us. But, if you don't want a picture of yourself, you can do just about anything else instead. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a copyrighted, famous person or character like from disney or something, but there are many avatars online that can be used instead, or a design or flower or the sky or whatever. That would help personalize your page a bit more.

@celticeagle and maybe mine needs even less than I used to give it since it's been blooming even when I've not watered it for a long time.

It normally doesn't bloom all the way around the plant and that's probably because I forget to water it at least weekly. In fact, I've probably not given it much water since just after CHristmas when it quit blooming again. Maybe I did once or twice, but I don't remember. When it bloomed in December this past year, I'd gone many months without watering it. Maybe my plant is trying to remind me that it needs my love.

I made it through my third day fairly fine. I'm barely thinking about starting them up again, although I've not done a bit of filing just yet. When I get bored, I take a nap. Eventually, I need to get up and do something.

Yes, I was surprised that it began blooming already, but maybe it knows that we're tired of winter? Maybe it will bloom again for Easter. I really rather doubt that but it would be cool too.

@MarshaMusselman It hasn't bloom for the last three years after we moved to our new home. It usually blooms every year. I have tried moving it to other spots , re potting it and stuff. Now I will just have to wait for something to happen.

@sofssu Mine has been blooming when I've not watered it at all for long periods of time. Maybe you should try that out for a while. When mine quit blooming right after Christmas, I tried to remember to water them a bit weekly or so but after awhile I completely forgot. It's been almost two months and it began blooming all by itself. I do make sure I open the drapes daily so it gets some light and maybe a bit of sun too periodically.

Congratulations! You do make a difference and impact when you post and respond. I'm very glad to meet you. I like your six reasons why you're giving up your onlne game. I have not tried any of these games. They must be good and gratifying for destressing, aren't they? My 'addiction' is watching the news from conservative networks, reading investigative commentaries and opinion. How's Mom? How's your bookwork going?

Mom's the same as she has been. She's hanging in there although she really doesn't know it. She has dementia and she's legally blind and she turned ninety last July.

@MarshaMusselman Is she living on her own in her own house, with visiting help/carer? Or nursing home?

@everwonderwhy She lived in her own house for the first few years after her sight got worse and after she began showing symptoms of dementia. We had her name in a housing unit/apartment bldg for the elderly and when one opened up on the ground floor we all agree that we should get her in then as it would be easier, we figured, if she didn't have to figure out which floor to get to as often. As it turned out, several things she was active in like exercising and getting her blood checked was on other levels, but we rehearsed it with her a lot in the beginning and she did pretty well remembering. She lived on her own in an apartment there for one to two years. We spent time there for meals and as her health deteriorated we spent more time there mostly for meals so we could save money that others spent on nursing for that purpose. I was also still going and playing cards each week until she really didn't have any idea what she was doing, but that was some time after she moved there. Then, as she needed more nursing intervention, we moved her within that complex into the supportive area which is only like an effeciency apartment. Here in the states that's an apartment with one to two rooms. A bath and one main room that has kitchen appliances and room for a bed and chair in the same space. That worked for about another year or so until she had more problems with the bathroom and their supportive didn't do that, so we looked around for anther place for her. We found a group home that specializes in patients with dementia although they also have a few that have other mental issues. It's a great place compared to many others in our area.

I used to play games, but for me it was a good addiction. It was something that I loved to do. Now I don't like anything. I lost interest. You earned very fast $5. Did you spend much time here?

It wasn't that fast it was from January into Feb. But normally it takes me almost the filing two months so I'm that way it was fast. Some members can make about five per week here. When I get over five it's when it's two months worth of my. No addiction is good. I enjoyed my games but did them when I had plenty of other things to be doing.

@dya80dya Maybe some make thirty, but I think around twenty might be more normal for those that do well here. I've had good will power to control my eating before and I'm working on that at present too. Any addiction can be controlled if we really want the end result. One day I may allow myself to play a game or two online, but only if I feel that I can easily break away when I decide to. I've already tried to give this up three other times but didn't get very far. This may be the longest I've gone on giving up the games. One week and one day. The first two days were the hardest. I almost played some today but mostly because I need to get to my bookkeeping and I keep wanting to put that off a bit longer. BUT, I do need to just get to it. I at least opened the program and printed off something I need to continue. Now it's just the doing of it now at least for some and not keep putting it off.

@WiseGhots For this month, but I began on it during the month of January, so in essence it was more like six weeks. It just didn't take me the normal, for me, eight weeks to achieve.
