Halfway Impressions: The House At Riverton

This is a harder discussion to write than any of my previous "halfway impressions". First I want to remark on how fast I've gotten through this book. I am on page 254 of 468 and that is hard for me to believe. Secondly, I'll try to make this as quick as possible. I really like the way Kate Morton has written the character of Grace. I also enjoy the tidbits of knowledge you get along the way. It wasn't until 30 or so pages ago that I learned about Grace's husband and what he meant to her. You gradually learn about her grandson as well, though her daughter is probably one of the first of her family you learn of. That is, besides her mother, but she recalls her in her memories. The book is split between two different time periods. Grace's past as a servant and her present life living in a nursing facility. I am sure that I (as the reader) will be devastated towards the end as I know that the author will kill Gracie off. Right now I am eager to learn of the fate of her employers. We know that there is a tragedy, and we know what the tragedy is, we just do not know how or why it came about. Have you read anything by Kate Morton ? An old friend of mine messaged me, she'd seen that I was reading this book and said she had a book by the same author. I may have to pick up more of Kate Morton's books in the future. What are you reading?

I have not read anything by Kate Morton. I am reading The Traitors Wife by Allison Pataki.

I had to go to my room to check. I've read The Traitor's Wife by Kathleen Kent which I thought was an awesome book. The author looked up her family history, and the main character in the book was technically her like great great great grandmother or some such. My great great great great uncle or something like that, was the chaplain to Charles I. So technically, her GGG's Grandmother's husband would have been the one.. You know what? I'm blabbering, sorry. I hope you enjoy your book. Please let me know what you think of it, I read the synopsis and it sounds somewhat interesting to me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My ancestor was the apothecary to King Louis XIV so it seems we have royal service in common.

@BelleStarr Oh wow, the apothecary? How awesome! My family (on both sides) seems to have been preachers, priests etc.
