Is tooth extraction painful?

I need to have tooth extraction. I hadn't a tooth extraction until now. I am very scared. The doctor wants to remove 2 or 3 teeth at once. I am so worried. She wants to suture gums after that. I also never had suture done. I want to know if tooth extraction is painful. Have you ever had one tooth extraction? Or more than one? How was this experience for you?

The extraction itself won't be painful. It just feels weird being numb - and it will last a couple or more hours after that. The uncomfortable part for me came after it all wore off . . . a little soreness and bleeding (I had cotton pads in my mouth). It's a bit bothersome but really not bad at all.

@dya80dya Like I said, the pulling out part was not painful. They will numb you before all that, and you might feel pressure, but no pain. It's after all the anesthesia wears off that you will feel soreness in the surgery area (normal of course) - and how much soreness depends on your pain tolerance (mine happens to be pretty high).

I have had a few pulled out and these days it is not very painful. Are they that bad that they have to be pulled out?
