How often do you visit a doctor?

A few years ago I was in and out of hospital like a yo-yo for various health issues. These have been largely resolved but I still visit my doctor so frequently we're on first-name terms and send each other birthday and Christmas cards! OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration (but not much). In the past 3 months alone I've visited my doctor no less than 7 times and the practice nurse 4 times - and there are more visits to come. Much more of this and I'll qualify for my own parking space at the surgery!

Doctors should love me, too, considering the money I flush into their coffers.

@ThreeTeddies My gynaecologist used to go on holiday in Poland to hunt European bisons. Now he is retired and only plays golf. :-)

Usually, I just see my doctor once a year for my physical. But there have been times where I had to go in for stomach pains, or UTIs.

I'm pretty sure you'd trade no doctor visits for your own parking space. Maybe this month will find you not going quite as often. We have two friends in Helensburg. Have you been there? We'd love to go for a visit, but haven't done it yet.

@1creekgirl I think you mean Helensburgh (pronounced Helens-burah). It's on the other side of the country from my home but that's only a 2-hour drive away. My wife and I have passed through it many times and once we had lunch there. It's a lovely little town.

Like most men I tend to only visit the doctor as a last resort. I spent all morning in work when I was in agony due to a kidney stone thinking it was a sciatica attack that would pass. In my youth I played football for 6 weeks with a fractured ankle. I assumed it was a sprain and just strapped it up to play.

@WorDazza Tough guy huh! That's nothing - I once went into a Celtic supporters pub in Glasgow wearing a Rangers top. Now that's tough! OK, they beat the c**p outta me but my mates bought me pints for the rest of that weekend!

Once these visits start they seem to build up their own momentum. I go so seldom that for ages I didn't have a regular doctor.

@ThreeTeddies Doctors' appointments can certainly take up a lot of time.

@JudyEv From up to the age of about 55 I hardly saw a doctor once a decade. Since then, however, it's all gone bad

Before I visited doctors often. Now I discovered that they can't help me.

If I don't feel very sick, I don't want to go to see a doctor
