I came across a video of people that are improving their immune system and their tolerance to heat and cold by breathing more. This man climbed Mount Everest in his shorts. It reminded me that I had a book on breathing exercises and found it. It is called Super Power Breathing for Super Energy by Paul and Patricia Bragg. You may have heard of them. I think I will start doing some breathing exercises ad see if I can improve my health and resistance to the winter cold. Do you think that you are breathing correctly? Do you do or have you done any breathing exercises? I do breathing exercises when stressed. I guess you can say I breathe properly when doing exercises or swimming laps.

Long time ago I thought I was breathing correctly till I started going to yoga classes. Breathing helps relieve stress, clears our mind and our body. It helps us calm down. My Apple Watch reminds me when I should take a break and breath for a minute or two.

So you do it to relax but it can also be done to energize. I would also do it to relax before doing a presentation before a crowd of people. Now, I want to learn how to do it to energize. I have to read the book that I have and watch some of the videos that I found.

I've heard there are breathing techniques to help you get more oxygen into your lungs. I don't practice those techniques.

I am looking into it to see if it would be useful to improve my health. It does seem to make sense that breathing properly would be important.

Probably many books have been written about it but most of us don't breathe right. I' started yesterday and will try to continue till I can go out in winter with only my shorts on.

Some people will tell us that our quality of life depends a lot on our breath, and our breathing
There are lots of New Age Therapies, based around us using certain breathing techniques. Years and years ago, I did one called, "rebirthing". This is a continuous cyclic breathing technique of breathing in deeply, strongly, then breathing out slowly, in a relaxed way. You connect the out-breath to the in-breath seamlessly, so that there is no pausing between breaths. This type of breathing stimulates a sort of hyperventilation, that allows you to release emotions, and held onto trauma, especially that experienced around your birth, hence the name. In general terms though, I think that our lungs, like all of our body, work best when working best. This means that deep breathing, using the fuller breath, brings the lungs into full use, and deep breathing then is beneficial for us, at times, especially when we do not much exercise, so we do not much breathe deeply naturally anymore. Interesting theory. I always feel better physically when I do yoga which involves deep breathing. I also do breath counting to relieve stress so I believe there may be something to this in improving one's health.

Several years ago I became interested in this subject of breathing, I practiced a little yoga and meditation and I learned to breathe by raising and lowering the diaphragm, that is, the abdominal breathing that is the best way to breathe because the lungs are completely filled. Young children breathe in this way, that is, with the abdomen. As we grow, we lose this capacity and breathe little air and only take air with the upper part of the lungs, which brings negative consequences to our health.
