What did you have for breakfast today?

I've finished my second cup of coffee on this partially cloudy Sunday. I could tell I was hungry, but nothing struck my fancy. Finally, I decided to go with one of my defaults, latkes with applesauce and sour cream. It did the job. If the weather holds, I may go "practice softball" again, as I did yesterday. My middle-aged back feels pretty good this morning, and I'm feeling the need to be in touch with parts of myself I've let slip. What was on your breakfast menu for today? Are there things you can think of that you'd like to "get back into" but have "let slide" for the past few days, weeks, months, or years?

Omelette with mixed peppers, mushroom and some cheese Was going to go for poached egg on toast but after nearly 20 portions (2 eggs) of poached eggs I was fed up of making them. Only did 6 omelettes today so did one for myself

@Mike197602 Heh. I didn't know! I used to work in a hotel kitchen as well. But I was a lowly dishwasher. Feh.

I don't have breakfast but once we get to winter I'll probably start having porridge again.

What exactly is porridge? Would Americans call it oatmeal?

@TheHorse Mine is just oatmeal microwaved with water then milk and a bit of sugar added. You can buy powdered porridge which is a finer consistency but much the same thing.

I had a bagel with cream cheese...I know it sounds weird but it was good and I think it could catch on and become a big breakfast thing. I just have to start telling people about it. I would tell you about all the things I've let slide over the years that I want to get back into but this is MyLot and I don't want to get banned.

@TheHorse Lox! That's the missing link that will put this idea over the top! Do you have a good patent attorney?

Bagel with cream cheese. That could easily catch on. If we toasted the bagel, put a bit of butter beneath the cream cheese, and occasionally added lox, maybe we could patent it.

I guess I had latkes this morning, too. A couple of bowls of old mashed potatoes sat in my fridge so I dumped a home egg and wheat flour in and turned out pancakes.

I Love Latkes, I don't eat them often but they are a treat for Breakfast..I joined the YMCA with my husband several years ago when it opened in our area. I've got rid of a lot of fat, it makes me happy.

My young friend is going to stop by, and we're going to cycle up to his old school. We'll play catch, and I'll throw myself some hard grounders off of the handball wall as well. I want to get my softball mojo back.

@PainsOnSlate We had a great time. At about 3 PM he called his mom to tell her he'd been abducted by UFO aliens. I played the alien in the background and said, "I must take your primitive cell-phone technology, Earthling." His mom laughed. He's home safe and I'm off to get some food.

I woke up a little late as I couldn't sleep well due to cold and congestion. So I went for a heavy brunch of egg roll with loads of veggies and fresh cut papayas.

Latkes are potato pancakes, a close cousin to Swiss rösti. I made waffles yesterday morning, with whipped cream and strawberries.

@TheHorse Oh, okay. I make them also, just didn't realize I was making latkes! That sounds fancier than potato pancakes. I use left over mashed potatoes with a little flour, salt, pepper, sometimes cheese, then after they're fried nice and crispy, I top them with sour cream.
