Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup for Dinner

On this cold rainy day I decided to fix a grilled cheese and tomato soup. It is a wonderful combination. And with such a chill in the air, the soup should do the trick.
We had this a lot growing up and my Mom always used thick red rind cheddar cheese. It was so good on her homemade bread. I will settle for plain bread and cheddar.
Any dinner plans out there? Do you like red rind cheese?

@CarolDM Are they easy to use? I don't do yeast.

@1creekgirl Yes, mine has a small lid on the top and you pour the yeast at the beginning. Easy peasy.

We use to have that a lot growing up too. It is a great comfort food. I have never had red rind cheese.

@CarolDM I've heard of cheddar, but not red-rind cheddar. Edam (or as I knew it growing up "Edamer") cheese comes from the Netherlands (as did my parents).

That seems a very healthy meal. Always good to eat light before getting to bed.

I do love tomato soup with grill cheese! I use plain American cheese though, such as Kraft.

We had frozen burritos, cauliflower and glorified rice. Your grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds good. I like tomato basil soup.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup are one of my favorite foods! My dad made the best grilled cheese when I lived home. I use regular bread and processed cheese which really isn't very healthy at all but tastes so yummy. I don't think I have ever had the kind of cheese you mentioned red rind.

I like American cheese in my grill cheese and only one slice. I don’t care for tomato soup but I can do like vegetable soup or noodle soup with itZ
