Update On My Scottish Scones

I finally got to taste the scones that I made Saturday morning. I was the first one up, so decided that it was not going to be cereal this morning but a nice wedge of the scone instead. I had to substitute raisins instead of currents and I was kind of worried that they wouldn't work as well. Everyone said that they were fine... but I still wondered! I had already taken the butter out of the refrigerator and some strawberry/rhubarb preserves just in case... but one bite told me that they were fine without anything else. As it was my sugar day today, I was ready to fancy them up if need be! I then wrote down notes in the cookbook about the use of raisins, and then dated the entry along with the town where we are now living. Did I ever mention that I write in my cookbooks all the time. Lol... some of the entries are quite funny... "So and so hated these and told me never to make the again" has been written on one or more occasions!! How about you? Do you write in your cookbooks??

I don't really write personal notes. I do have some funny entries in my old diaries though.

You just reminded me to update my diary lol... and it's a funny one about the paint color my husband brought home for the basement. Actually I think that I will use it as my post today!!

I don't do it, but I have a cookbook that belonged to my grandmother and her writing is in it. She had nice handwriting, unlike mine! My mother writes on recipes, and comments on whether they were good or not.

Scones... You pretty much dump everything into a bowl, stir in the wet ingredients and then cut into 2 balls, press flat and then score. Bake and eat... That has to be the worlds smallest recipe lol!!

Sometimes I do. I've used raisins in scones many times when I didn't have currants on hand.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well they worked... I will have to try raisins with Rock Cakes and see if it works as well! I haven't made them in ages... because I never think to buy currents!!!

I do not write in my cookbooks because they were my Mom's and I have my Grandmother's. They wrote notes and are treasures!
