When did you see a mobile phone first?

For most of the people in the third world countries, mobile phones are not as old as in the developed countries. Yes we had landlines but the first mobile phone I saw was in 1998 and my dad owned it. I remember telling mom to bring it so that I can see it and it was an exciting moment. I would 'steal' the phone and call my friends through their parents' phones. Today things have changed and I think I own more than 5 gadgets. When did you see or own a mobile phone?

I still remember very well, mobile phones were not yet available in Europe, but I saw a man in 1984 using a mobile phone on the Bus that brought us from the airplane to the terminal in the Los Angeles airport.

@aureliah I looked at the man who was calling not believing my eyes. When we got off the bus I asked my husband and he explained how it worked.

In 1993 or 1994. My employer of the time gave me one to be able to join me at any moment and I hated that. It was a rather big phone weighting 300g with a small antenna.

I can't remember the exact year, but we had a mobile phone installed in our car for emergency use only. They were extremely expensive then.

I first had a cellular phone in 1993. It was an old CDMA phone and needed a booster to talk when you drove through the countryside!
