Frivolous Friday

Sometimes you just have to eat what you are craving, even if you have suffered a heart attack and a stroke, as our son’s father-in-law is doing in the photo above.
Many of my friends here know that this happened while on safari in Kenya. He is still in a wonderful private hospital in Nairobi, but was recently moved to his own apartment in the hospital. His neurologist wants him to remain for observation for another week or two before flying back to NYC on a med-evac jet with his wife. He still has a blood clot in his heart. He still needs heart surgery for the damage inflicted on his heart.
Our son flew home on Monday and our daughter-in-law will fly home with her siblings tomorrow.
Tonight is our Friday date night, but my husband and I do not plan on eating anything as frivolous as that!

He certainly looks good for someone recovering from a heart attack and stroke. Wow an apartment in the hospital is new to me.
Hope he continues to improve and can get back to NY for continued treatment.

@DianneN The problem is that some people can eat anything and do well and others need to be really cautious. I am one that needs to be very cautious about what I eat. Thankfully, I've learned so much about what helps me to stay healthy. I wish him health and happiness!

@Tampa_girl7 Thank you. Once he's safely back in NYC, we will give a sign of relief until it's time for his heart surgery. That blood clot on his heart is still a big concern.

For being as sick as he was, your son's father-in-law looks wonderful! God has definitely touched him, at this time of a critical affliction. I will still be praying, so the Lord will completely heal his body from head to toe:) Please, don't tell anyone that I'm praying for his 'toes,' his family might think that I'm a bit, you know, (kinky!)

You just made me laugh. I truly appreciate the prayers. He has always had such a wonderful sense of humor and has been a good looking man. His short term memory is a bit shot from his stroke, but his long term memory is fine. My son told me that he's not always lucid, but at least he can speak and isn't paralyzed. We are so grateful that he is alive.

@DianneN Thank God, he's lucid, most of the time. Depending upon where the stroke happened in his brain, determines the severity of damage that's done. Paralysis on one side of the body is traumatic, it can never be restored:(

I was thinking about your friend last night,,actually he popped into my mind for some reason..I think he should joke with his doctors.."I may have had a heart attack, but at least I out ran the lion."
