Today I did have my tablet with me and I could have been online but I am not used to it and I make more mistakes, and get called out for it, than I do on my desk top.
So while I sat alone in the waiting area I chose my book and I just finished it this evening.
I am not sure about you but when I read a real book I am still aware of what is going on around me.
What do you do when you have a day to wait?
By the way Black eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin is a good book.

If I can concentrate then I read a book. If not then I use note pad and pen and work out things I have to do.

I have a Bluetooth keyboard for my kindle and it helps when I do use my kindle for online activities.

I do not even know what a bluetooth keyboard is. I am old.

I grew up in a big family, I learned to zone them out, just to watch t.v. at time.

I am so easily distracted I choose to read magazines. The chunks are small, so I can hang on through them. I cannot concentrate.

I enjoy reading the book instead of the online ones. I have not noticed your observation though.

It depends on the book. I have read some that the real world disappeared.

So do I , I often see my doctor looking at what I am reading this time around, but I only go 3-4 times a year for a diabetes check up.

@andriaperry For a while I'd gotten into the habit of working digital puzzles on my phone (I prefer to read but sometimes the distractions bother me) and decided I was wasting WAY too much time.
