Not Sure About the Black Cat Petunia

I am not sure if I would like the look of the petunia "Black Cat" in my garden, however, when paired with other plants in a container, the "Black Cat" petunia just may add a lot of interest. The Burpee Company is responsible for creating the "Black Cat" petunia. The "Black Cat" petunia really is black as can be when planted in areas with full sun, however, in areas with shade, the "Black Cat" petunia may show a bit of purple on the underside of its petals. If the "Black Cat" petunia is under stress due to high heat or if it is deprived of water, it will have a bit of yellow showing on its petals. To date, "Black Cat" petunia is the blackest petunia around. "Black Cat" petunia is also called "Black Velvet." Photo: Burpee Seed Co.

I think that I would probably be okay with this planted next to orange, purple or bright blue flowers. Something to give the black a bit of contrats. The flower is unique in it's own way and deserves it's own bit of spotlight.
