When we drove our car and caravan into the camping area of the Country and Western Music Festival that we recently attended, we were shown where we should park. It was all very well organised. Although we knew our friends were attending we hadn’t made any special arrangements to meet so we were surprised and pleased to discover their caravan next to ours. They have a cute young poodle which is very intelligent and a dear little dog. Ben has a number of toys and one of his favourites is a frisbee. Many times he is able to catch the frisbee in mid-air. Vince was lucky enough to get a photo of him doing this first-up. I thought it would take a number of tries to capture it on film but Vince must have got lucky. Dogs love their toys, don’t they?

It's not always easy to catch the action in mid-flight.

@JudyEv Dogs are cute, but also cats learn to communicate and to play. The young cat of my neighbor now brings back the ball I throw to play with him.

@LadyDuck Does he really? Isn't that great? I don't know that many cats bother to do that. They're more inclined to think YOU should go and get the ball. :)

@JudyEv we did that with our cats growing up - tying paper on string so they chase and jump for it.

Some don't care for toys, do they? When I was a child, toys for pets weren't available. We used to make a 'mouse' out of a rolled up piece of paper tied to a string.

I agree. My Bear dog is obsessed with toys, but my little Chopper could not care less. He does love a rawhide bone though.

I took a photo of my daughter jumping into the pool. It is a moment frozen in time....a incredibly lucky shot. There she hangs suspended amidst droplet flung up by the carousing children with her toes mere inches above the water.

@JudyEv am just wondering why their hind part and their abdomen are always bald. Lol. Do they shave them? Why? Just for style?

@Janet357 Yes, they clip the dogs. The hair is long and very curly. It is too hot in summer and the coat gets full of grass-seeds. It is much better for them if they are kept clipped.

It is easy to train dogs. We did not do much with Preiti but only that which made her comfortable She could catch the ball in air, go for the ball and bring it back and so on. She picked up a few things herself and that qualified her being called a dignified lady.

@FayeHazel Yes, they were used to retrieve waterfowl. The original clipping pattern had a very functional purpose. The knobs on the ankles were left to protect the joints from the cold water and the knob on the end of the tail helped hunters locate them when they were in the water.

Fantastic photo! Our dog loves her frisbee as well. Unfortunately, she likes to destroy balls and soft toys so we have to be picky about what we let her play with.

@JudyEv She doesn't chew things so much as try to pull things apart. We bought an "indestructible" rope rabbit for her. It took her a week to have the wee beastie ripped limb for limb. She seems to find great joy in removing squeakers.
