Sting Of Betrayal......

His face creased as he lifted off the helmet The face under the helmet knocked him back on his heels One would have to understand in that moment what one could feel The feeling and hurt of betrayal can sting Can sting and go quite deep Surprise, hurt and despair all crossed your face in one go You did not want to kill him You put down the knife and let him go The other never meant to hurt you either He was just following the orders of a King Lying back on the ground like you could not do a thing He brought you back round and raised you from the ground Your foe or enemy he was never to be Later on he fought in your honour to allow his country to be free. Words are all my own in this poem. Now this is not so much about the film itself of "Braveheart" but rather the beautiful piece of acting of Mel Gibson perhaps the best I have ever seen him. The other actor is good as well I am not crediting one more than the other but Mel portrays it on his face when he takes the helmet off the other one and finds to his suprise Robert The Bruce. History has it that this did not really take place but The Bruce did fight on both sides of the Border of Scotland as he was really in favour of Scotland but he had to play a game of chess to be able to stay alive and win the game at the end of the day. Hats off to Mel for that wonderful piece and portrayal one how one can feel in that moment of betrayal whether it be a battlefield or right now. Hats off too for Angus Macfadyen and David O´Hara who took him on his horse to safety again the one who played the mad Irishman Steven.

Braveheart is in my movie list of favorites. So is Mel Gibson in my favorite list of actors. There is, on netflix, a sequel to Braveheart, and the movie is entitled Outlaw King. It stars Chris Pine as Robert the Bruce. Such a powerful sequel. I enjoyed it very much because of Braveheart. Grateful for these historical films because these give us a peephole back in time and watch how people fought for justice and freedom, stood for the right, and live lives for the good of others. Such brave hearts in a time dark and scary.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes, Outlaw King is , as Braveheart, ushers us to a time when men became cunning, skillful in the art of war, to achieve purpose of defending truth and justice, and self-sacrifice a supreme end. Here's a spoiler. Movie is packed with gruesome scenes. Brace your self. I couldn't breathe watching.

@eileenleyva I could not see it here and I guess its because of the way the internet is now I will watch a bit of it on youtube after. Angus Macfadyen is to do with all of this he tells you about Robert The Bruce as it really was.

Sorry I did comment back to you yesterday but it has sort of vanished it really is an awesome movie and awesome Mel Gibson. To be able to come up with such a difficult accent as the Scottish one when you are from somewhere else is enough credit in itself as well.

@just4him He made it so believable as well that you would think he was really from Scotland.

The movie was great, but I stopped liking him since his antisemitic outbursts several years ago. I refuse to ever watch any of his movies again - ever.

I can understand how you feel but I never think about that just the film itself and the history behind it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Thanks for understanding. I did enjoy the film which was way before he went public with his beliefs and feelings. I also saw the kilts he wore in a kilt factory in Scotland. They had photos of him in them, too.

I did enjoy that movie too. Mel does tend to act and produce gory but great films. I really enjoyed reading your poem. The poem to me does reflect the surprise of discovering the betrayal of an ally.

Yes exactly and he portrays so well what I felt in that moment as well. I would wish betrayal for no one. There were loads of Battles like that in England over many Centuries and all were bloody of course there was no other way I suppose.

Me too so I only watch it every so often. The very look on his face said it all and he did that so well. The human expression of disbelief and the fact that he thought he had been betrayed by the one he most believed in. Actually Robert The Bruce was on his side even though he had to be on two sides at the same time.

@Nickzter1331 Robert The Bruce lost six Battles one after the other and on the seventh he won back the freedom for Scotland. He is one heck of a legend for the Scots and others.

It was all about struggle for freedom and it was beautifully written and the music by James Horner was superb.
