That Was Memorable!

This morning we left our motel with the best of intentions. We were headed about an hour up the interstate for our breakfast at a restaurant we had discovered on a previous trip.
The roads were wet, and a light snow was falling. In the next little while we saw multiple police officers go flying past us...lights flashing and sirens wailing!
Later we learned a freak accident in the south bound lanes had cost a police officer his life.
We arrived at the restaurant to discover it was closed for the season.
A disappointing "fast food" breakfast and we were ready to continue.
A 90 mile stretch of road, called Airline Road (it rides up and down a stretch of mountains across Maine) with not much along it...(pretty much nothing for 90 miles).
The first 30 miles the road was wet , the last 30 miles the road was wet.....it was the middle.
The road was snow covered....the snow was falling heavily.....tractor trailers were stuck...
When we spotted the lone restaurant, rest area, we decided it was time for a break, when traffic started to move again...we headed out behind a Snowplow. Things didn't improve....later we heard that the road had been blocked by a jackknifed tractor trailer. Numbers us other vehicles were spun out into ditches.
Three hours later we were once again moving towards our home.
It was an unforgettable trip.

@SophiaMorros oh! Now I'm curious.
I went to Mardens. I restrained myself and only purchase quilt backing for one quilt.

It was a scary trip. Considering that this is a two way road. We did not see any on coming traffic for an hour or more.

It was not exceptionally cold. The temperature was hovering just around freezing. The snow was heavy and wet.

I can't wait to see our yard in daylight. All of our snow melted while we were away.

@Morleyhunt The wind got stronger and reached 90 km per hour, I am hoping not to have damages to repair.

@morleyhunt it’s a real bummer when you’re looking forward to a good breakfast or whatever and the place is closed. Nothing else will ever be a good substitute.

I too Amy very happy that we made it home safely. I'm also happy that the snow here is almost all gone and I'm seeing more and more signs that spring is finally arriving.
