Exercising Restraint

Last week we returned home in a snowstorm. Since arriving at home, hubby and I have been busy working on my new and improved sewing room (much larger), the new and improved laundry room....no bare walls or bare concrete floors, and hubbies new workshop (I think he should have made it larger.... This has kept us occupied with carrying in drywall, mudding the joints and corners and now sanding them smooth. Meanwhile....while on vacation, I purchased a new "toy"! An embroidery sewing machine. I've been itching to pull it out of the box and try it....but I told myself I had to wait until I could put it into my new sewing room. So far I've managed to restrain myself from opening the box.....but I'm not sure I can resist the appeal for much longer. Have you ever put off opening something as exciting as this?

This new sewing machine looks great. My husband is better than I am in waiting to open packages until we are ready to place the item. I am like a kid.

@Morleyhunt This is surely one of the reasons. May be it's also because you want to have the sewing room ready to receive it.

@LadyDuck I'm afraid if I open the box I'll stop working on the sewing room and just play with my new machine.

I'm actually surprised that I've been able to resist this long.....maybe it's because of all the pretty fabrics I purchased while visiting my sister.

I commend you for your restraint. How much longer until your new sewing room is complete?

@Morleyhunt That is considering you find the flooring you want at the right price.. Hopefully all goes smoothly. Are you looking for hardwood, laminate, carpet.. what?

@ScribbledAdNauseum we are looking for laminate. We have two nearby (relatively) hardware stores that usually have some on sale. If they don't...we can go a bit farther afield and have several other options. I'm sure we won't have a difficult time finding some at a price we are willing to pay.

I'm hoping that we are shopping for flooring next week....so I'm guessing at least two more weeks.

I'm sure that you'll have hours of enjoyment in front of this machine. I can't wait to see what you create first on it. I have put off opening things if it is something that I will want to spend time on when I am busy working on something else.

I'm really wanting to try it out. I have ordered machine embroidery thread and hope it is delivered this week yet.... Once that arrives....I doubt my restraint will hold.

@Juliaacv We were travelling.... I thought I could buy the thread at our local Walmart.....no....don't carry it. The fabric shop I was near....had already closed for the day (1 PM Saturday and didn't reopen until Tuesday PM) and I wasn't making a special trip (35km) just for thread.

I don't think I'd be able to resist trying out that new embroidery machine.

If my thread is at the post office today I'm not sure I'll last through the weekend.

Nobody fussing at me...I just don't want to pull it out of the box only to repack it until my room is finished.

I'm sure I will. I'm so looking forward to setting up my new room. It's 11' X 11' instead of 8' X 8'.
