Unexpected Visitor

While out drinking coffee this morning, enjoying the sunshine in my screen room, my cats and I, a dove visited the deck. It is an Euarasian collared dove. You can see the black band around his neck. They are larger than the mourning doves I usually see in the backyard. Almost a white color when the first land. Beautiful birds. I fed these birds over the winter and I guess they are looking for more food. I took up the feeder a few weeks ago because of the bluebirds. I did not want any distractions for them. There are plenty of insects in the yard for them to eat. And the ratbirds (sparrows) have messed the bluebird plan up, for now anyway. But these doves are always a delight to see. So graceful, they make hardly any noise, and are just beautiful. My cats like to see them as well. They talk to them through the screen. Entertaining to watch the cats bird watch with me. Have you had a good morning so far? Enjoy your day!

That is a beautiful dove. Doodles cackles when he sees birds except for hawks. Wonderful sunny day here. Enjoy yours and hope those knees are doing better.

That is great, I had two and one flew before the camera snapped. Probably the same species.

These seem very gentle birds, don't you think? I guess that's very appropriate for doves.

They look similar to pigeons, but we don't see such birds here.
