Hoping to find a fish tank expert in the forum, just looked at our lone goldfish in it's tank 2ft x 1ft, there is, as the daughter discribes it as "bad cotton wool" on the bottom of the tank. it looked fine yesterday, today I'm in panic mode. Temp it getting warm here thought that may be the cause... HELP

Pulled out everything in the tank, & scooped all icky stuff out... *ewwwww* fresh filters, & Patch (the fish) seems happy. It has out lived 3 other tank mates over the last 5 years I don't think there is anything that will kill it.. lol

Well. a fishy update, due to no known cause, Patch was found not moving in his/her tank last night. A late night service was held in the side garden by solar light. The clean up & removal of the tank will be done during the day and no immediate plans for a replacement fish is avail. RIP PATCH 2000 - 2006

Hope it's not too late for goldie... Not sure if you have this in your country, but for fungus's like that, it's called PimaFix. Herbal remedy sold at fish shops works wonderfully for fungus's. For bacterial problems they sell MelaFix(made form melaluca (sp?)Works great for those disorders. Otherwise, pick up a medicine from the store for a fungus, can add some aquarium salt according to the directions. Now, usually you'll want to increase the temperature for fungus's, but not sure if you want to do that with goldies, because they prefer cooler water. Here's a link for a goldfish forum, try searching around there for more info. http://www.goldfishinfo.com/ailment1.htm

I'm no expert (as we've killed our fair share of fish) but it sounds like a fungus of some sort. Go to a pet shop and they will give (or sell) you something to put in the tank to fix it....
