Friend requests on my lot - do some people ask EVERYONE to be on their list?

I keep getting requests from people that I've never seen on myLot before. I've approved them all, but I'm wondering what the purpose is of accumulating tons of people that you've never even had a discussion with on the list. I was a bit worried about getting spammed at first, but so far that's only happened once out of about sixty people.

LOL!I was just about to send you an add request!Good I saw this topic before that.I personally send out add requests when I like the topics started by a person. When I want to come back to a few discussions.Because as far as I am aware I think there is nothing like bookmarking a topic or a person over here.So just to keep in track,I add a person. When a person creates my kind of topics, topics to which I am comfortable replying to,I add them so that I don't waste much time in searching for them. And once added as friend I can turn on the notify setting and keep getting notifications as to when the person starts a new topic!

Well, thank you! I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier, but I've been away for a few weeks. I won't flatter myself to think that ALL those people were interested in my discussions, but what you said makes sense. I've noticed several people I'd like to add to my friends list, but I get so caught up in reading and that I don't end up responding to their discussions, and assume they'll have no idea who I am, and not add me. I think I'm going to change my ways, and do what you do. It would be nice to keep track of the people whose discussions interest me most (even if I have to risk rejection :) ).

At first I thought you had to have friends to post on their discussion's but then I figured out that is not the case. Although, I do go on "discussion's your friends started" and post on their discussion's

Ah, that probably explains a lot of requests.

First and foremost I send request because i like the topics being discussed by that person. Also I want to be able to send messages and comments to that person. I've requested to be added to your list too. hope you'll add me because it's nice to have lots of friends even if we haven't meet personally. Good day!!

I do find it strange when people haven't even read any of my discussions suddenly ask me to be a friend?! Or people who appear from no where, you accept them as friends then they start bombarding you with Spam! Now I am more cautious when I accept friends. I hate spam at the best of times. It's good to have a lot of friends providing that you can support your friends through replying to their discussions!

I think they do, sometimes I just need to reply in a discussion and they'll want to be friends, I have actually denied a couple because them or their topics dont really interest me

When I get a request, I add them but I always ask why out of so many they chose me to be their buddy? and some tell me because of the discussions they have read and liked or some even told me they liked the photos I have of the avatars. So I approve all of them to be kind and I tries to answer their discussions but its getting to be I cant answer or comment to all anymore. I do hope they understand. I answer yours because yu are my buddy and I enjoy yur discussions so I participate in them..

If i come across a response or a post that I can relate to and also like it,then I send a friend request to that person. This is solely because I would like to interact with him/her more often. This becomes easy if that person is on your friend's list.:)
