Shandy is a weekly market conducted on a open ground, where villagers bring their agricultural and other products and exchange it for what they want (barter earlier) and now sell it and buy something they require?

Shandy means not handmade products selling. It is a weekly market putup by farmers and middlemen and most of the products are generally sold in barter, or what they sell, they buy the required items, and mostly it contains food articles, animals, fish, local herbal medicines, household articles.

Near my place, there is a village called Varthur. A shandy takes place on every sunday and thousand gather there to buy and sell. One can get fishes, meat, live animals, agricultural products, even unwanted household materials are also available. The shandy takes place from 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Since there is no electricity facility, they close it before day light ends). There is a lot of bargain in prices and most of them dispose off what they have brought and take home the material they need.
