Designing Your Salvation

Churches give you the idea that 'All you have to do to be "Saved" (rescued from the complete destruction of death ... protected as the fire baptizes) is Believe that Jesus died to pay the debt of sin.' But--although I don't agree with many of the beliefs that Believers' Voice of Victory Ministries goes-along-with--I DO agree with one thing they say about 'being Saved': https://my.kcm.org/p-924-salvation-package.aspx?Source=WEB You need to make Christ Jesus 'The Lord of your Life!' The next part of salvation ... it's a little confusing to talk-about, because--tho we know that Christ Jesus is "the only Way"--there are 'an infinite number of wayS to follow Him.' Oh, there are a few basic rules to follow (primarily The Golden Rule---Love: love your neighbor as yourself, with God as father of you both). Another rule: immersion (like illustrated by 'baptism-by-immersion,' but I'm thinking more of media-immersion)---starting with "reading The Bible regularly." Even if you've heard all the stories before, and have read the whole thing cover-to-cover; because your brain will think about whatever you put in it ... put in garbage, it's start believing the garbage is good Kenneth Copeland suggests you start reading at The Gospels (the beginning of The New Testament)---making me wonder why Bibles still include The Old Testament ... Reading The Bible, your mind will be trained to see God in your daily life & -to do the things a good disciple would do. Any other suggestions?

I don't know. I always applaud, and even sometimes envy, religious people. I watch a young child die horribly of a body devastating cancer and see a serial killer live to 90 in a prison cell, and it always makes me question things.

The child's suffering is brief; prison isn't enjoyable.

Even the strongest of believers find themselves questioning things like that....

@mythociate The child is more entitled to live than the serial killer is. So...rob a child of a life of enjoyment to provide a serial killer a life of hell? That makes no sense.

I started my early Christian walk with reading the Book of John, the Psalms and Proverbs, the Old Testament should be read, but is a lot more difficult to understand for some, you definitely need to follow the Golden Rule, that has to do with being like Jesus, following Jesus’s path, he loved everyone, and we need to do the same, but being human we are going to make mistakes. Believing is only part of it though, we are to become a new creature in Christ, it isn’t always easy, and we are going to trip up, but there is forgiveness and repentance!

They say "The Old Testament is The New Testament concealed (making The New Testament 'The Old Testament revealed'). I'm remembering that the word they translate "Testament" might also be translated 'covenant.' The Old 'Covenant' was between Abraham (and all his children) and The Creator, in the blood of circumcision (I guess); The New Covenant is between humanity & The Creator, in the blood of Jesus.

@mythociate It is yes, but some tend to make it more black and white than it is...
