Unless we do some MAJOR changes in how we treat mother earth,we will destroy it and ourselves.

It's a fact. Earth will disapear because it is a planet's natural evolution. Mankind will have to find another home, but that doesn't mean that it sholdn't take care of this one as much as possible.

i dont necessarily agree. i think there are measures we can take to save the environment so that we can sustain life as long as possible and maybe even someday be able to reverse some of the damage we've done. i think some people think that we can continue treating the earth like this because we have the option of perhaps colonizing other planets, but why dont we do something about our planet now before its too late? i dont really see us colonizing other planets..i highly doubt any other planets are suitable for human life, but perhaps im wrong.

most planets do not satisfy our living conditions.. however, if technology really advances to a state whereby an artificial sun can be created and tweaking the core of the planet to alter gravity.. then maybe. as for facing extinction, of course there will be a day where the blackholes eat up the sun and earth.

I suppose we could due to global warming, but I wonder how they would be able to colonize other planets.

I think that if we don't use up our resources BEFORE we have the technology to colonize other planets, or if we don't blow ourselves up first, then it would be in our best interest. A big meteor hitting earth is more of a "when" than an if (we actually have one big enough to destroy us heading our way now). Spreading out would be a good idea! Sometimes I feel sad that I won't be around to see fun things like that though.

That is probably true. There is only so much natural resources. Some day the human population will be to large and the earth won't be able to sustain it.
