It's Ok for the black person to call a white person a HONK. or GRIGO or White Boy or what ever else they want to call us. But if a white person calls a black person Nigge than the boxing glove come off. I think people of all races need to join together and realize that we all have feeling and that by calling a person a name no matter what his race is offencive to each one of us. We need have respect for each other or we have to accept this slang terms and not find them offensive. What do u think?

When the Michael Richards tirade first aired I was shocked, upset and offended. By the fourth or fifth time it aired, it affected me as being really stupidly funny. He was acting just as crazy as Kramer ever acted and that's why it came across to me as stupidly funny. The black leaders who spoke out, never speak out when black comics use the word excessively in their acts. Now they are saying no one should use the word. Last nite on cable, a black comic was using the n word and the mf word in every sentence he spoke. No one was attacking this comic for using those words. no one took a video of that. I've come to the conclusion that it's not the word that hurts, it's the color of the person who says the word. Similar to when a person is murdered, it's the color of the people involved that matters most. If a white person kills a black person, the black community is up in arms with rage. While blacks are murdered by blacks frequently and it doesn't produce the rage because they protect the brother or sister who did it. I remember when the O.J. verdict was read and the gatherings of blacks who went wild with cheering that the brother was acquited. A strong message was given to the world very much like whites were acquited of murdering blacks in the south years ago. It's not what you do, it's who you are and who you know. If black comics are held to the same restrictions as white and hispanic comics are, they wont have jobs anymore. The stuff that comes up when the n word is used belongs to the person who hears it and reacts. When that word doesn't have the power it once had it eans the stuff was dealt with and eliminated.

Thank you. I appreciate ur wise comments. It's a joke when the black can get up and say what ever they want and think people don't get offended. The whites say something that is offensive especially someone famous then the lawyers start coming out and they want to be compensated for being offended. It's stupid bullshit is what it is. We all need to be on the same page and realize that no matter what race u are that a person is going to be offended if a deragatory word is going to be used regarding one's race or religion.

Clearly, you are not a history major, but perhaps you should spend some of your time online learning about American history and you will find the answer to your question.

I don't think it's OK for any person of any race to call another person of another race any type of derogatory name. Black people do that because amongst a lot of us it doesn't have a negative connotation when used just between us. I have never heard anyone say that it is OK for a Black person to call a white person or Mexican person any other derogatory slang name. It is absurd if you think that word will not be found offensive out the mouth of someone who is not black. Never gonna happen, sorry.

That's right. People shouldn't call other people names especially when he knows that it would offend the other person. People shouldn't accept this offensive term at all. Also, I don't think White people accepts it when they are called "white boy". It's still offensive.
