Why do people say something tastes like doo-doo, if they have never ate doo-doo?

I know this is a silly question...but really. Why do people say it takes like doo-doo or any other term referring to doo-doo, when they have never tasted doo-doo? I have teased and I am sure you have from time to time, asking the person if they have tasted doo-doo or if they are speaking from personal experience. Me...I do not say it tastes like doo-doo unless I am being lazy for finding the words to properly describe it. Now...that does not mean that I never say it tastes like $h*t. But....who hasn't said it? And why do we use that term?

My husband has tasted duck doo-doo by accident. He had his mouth open, when the duck flew over him and it landed in his mouth, so when he say's "It tasted like doo-doo" I believe him. I know that's gross but it's true, comfirmed by my mother-in-law

I really don't know why we use the term! We are just refering to something that takes probably just as disgusting as DOO-DOO! But, when I was little.....my mom said that I ate cat DOO-DOO. Well, I really didn't eat it, I just stuck it in my mouth and my mom had to dig it out! Gross, huh?? We are really just LAZY and can't find a better word to say then: DOO-DOO!! I might have said it before, but usually I just make a nasty face and say that what ever I ate was just disgusting and SPIT IT OUT!!!!!

So if you said something tasted like poop, you would be referring to the dried white poop then. LOL I'll just take your word for it. :)

Oh man, I forgot, I have tasted doo-doo before. Apparently I used to eat dog poop as a little kid. But I would wait until they were all dried out and white, then I would pop them into my mouth.

Lol! I like that. I've thought that too, and I do tease people when they say it. I'm sure I've said it too though, I think it's just instinctive. It tastes like something bad, and dung must taste bad, I mean just smell it! Therefore it tastes like it. Fear my logic! Honestly sometimes I wonder why we take f you as an insult, too. Someone is wishing that you will get laid, what's the downside in that? :P

oh this is the FUNNIEST discussion i've ever found in myLOT, LOL. i don't know why, but i GUESS it's because we are all familiar with doo-doo and that thing crosses our mind first when we are encountered with something disgusting:-)

yeah that is gross. I just say if something doesn't taste good it tastes yucky. Another one I like is if someone sips something strong, they say it tastes like nail polish.. how would one know what nail polish tastes like? That is if you had lived to tell the tale.

I think that part of the reason is because we're a little obsessed with this stuff called doo-doo. Take for instance, one of my most vivid memories of my honeymoon (it's ok to keep reading this will only be PG though by today's standards perhaps a G rating) is standing at Busch Gardens watching through a fiberglass (?) window at a gorilla literally wiping his butt and then lickicn his hand and eating his waste. My new husband and I sat there forever watching in awe and laughing! We especially liked to watch the response of new people as they notice for the first time what he was doing. I'm sure he could tell you what doo-doo tastes like (well if he could talk). Besides the gorilla there are two other people in this world that I would believe if they made this claim ... my sister who ate poop out of the kitty litter box mistaking the poo for tootsie rolls and my husband who ate horse poop to entertain his kids when he was a camp counselor! He maintains that it wasn't very much poop, but it was poop just the same. And yes, I still kiss him.

Your original opinion of him? It seems to me that we both married poop eaters and you're a self-confessed dried out white poop eater which makes me the only sane one! *insert evil laugh* "I'm the only non-poop eater in the family, I'm the only non-poop eater in the family!"

I think we all have said that sometime or another. I think that the reason we say that, is because that is the most awful thing we could imagine to eat, so we use it to express our feelings for a food that is really awful. Make sense?

I have heard people often say this when they have eaten something that doesn't appeal to their taste buds. My response is "Oh, and you would be an expert in this taste why?"

ha ha ha That is a good idea. Maybe your friend should email Whiskas Cat food company. They say things taste like chicken...maybe they can take that to their advantage and keep the same food but label it as mouse flavor. hahahaha

i guess it has to do with habit and influence from friends. of course, most if not all people who mention about doo-doo have not tasted it, it is just a manner of speaking, to express their disgust at tasting something horrible.

I think it has something to do with the way we talk to babies and sometimes it just get carried on even if the baby is not a baby anymore. Before you know, the whole family speaks like that and then the children pass it on to their friends and so on.

people say this because smell is close to taste, and really, the smell of poo is disgusting (always makes me want to vomit) so thats why people say it. It is something horrible so if the food they have ate tastes horrible it is easily associated with poop
