Plus or Minus ratings...Do you use the icons or rate a person's response?

I am wondering if this is how the new myLot payment system is rated. Do they pay those that get the + sign clicked by other users more than those that don't have any rating applied? At times, I thought it didn't make a difference because I would rate a person and when I went back again, I would be able to rate again. But now it seems the rating is sticking. Do you rate responses you receive or read in others discussions? And if you disagree with that person, do you still give them a positive rating because at least they answered honestly and with quality?

I do use the plus and minus buttons, but I use them sparingly. I use them when someone's answer is really good (well thought out and intelligently written) or really bad (pasted from somewhere else, unrelated to the discussion, or one or two words). I'm not sure if it makes a different or not money-wise, but at least I feel better for doing it. :)

I do the same, I have used the ! a couple of times to report users who do nothing but copy and paste from pervious answers, but I almost never use the - unless its clear someone is just posting so their rating will go up. If the post is on topic they tend to get a + from me no matter whether I agree with them or not.

I do give positive ratings to people that give honest and quality answers, regardless of whether I agree or disagree with them. We are not always going to agree with a persons comments so it is fair to give everyone a positive rating if they are honest and it is quality and they are not stealing someone elses comments or being rude. Rarely, do I give a minus rating but if answer is not quality I will leave it alone. I also give best responses to whoevers answer I like the best.

I give everyone a + if they participate and try to stay on the subject. I have never given a - because I am not sure what it actually does. I have only used the ! twice to complain about someone copying and pasting the exact same thing the person above them wrote. I think if a person takes the time to discuss your topic you should reward them with a + sign. This helps them I think with their earnings.

I agree with you. I don’t use much these + and- signs in my discussion, honestly telling that I don’t much know the effect of these sing. Obviously when we use –sign that will give negative impact for responder. I think we should not use this sign just for we don’t agree with the opinion unless and until that response violates the rules.

I use the rating system because mylot requests it. I'm not sure just what it's used for but it doesn't matter. If the response is good, I give the member a "+". If they give one of those canned answers or an answer that has nothing to do with the topic, I give a "-". Even if I disagree with the person, as long as the reply is good and seems honest, I give a "+".

I agree with you. Even if I do not have the same opinion, I still give a positive rating because the person spoke well. However, is someone is attacking another and is insulting, I think that deserves a negative. I reserve the negative rating for situations and responses that really deserve it. ie...the response of I don't know. Then why answer? Mind you, I also report those that are clear abuse like that....and that is also per myLot request. :)

I rate every discussion I respond to. I give a + rating every time even if I dot agree I give a + rating because it is only my opnion. The only time I give a neagative rating is when a member is bashing another member. That I dont tollerate for any reason and it shouldent happen.

I put a plus for my friends' discussions and for good answer in my discussions.Minus ratings i use rarly and i give it to peoples who answer only "yes", "no", etc. I think also that plus ratings help our for earn more money but i don't know how.

+ and - - + and -
I definatley use the + and - buttons. When the response is great, or quality answers. That are more than just a sentence or a few words!! I like reading the responses to a discussion and I try always to make sure to give them a +. However, when they respond in a way that has nothing to do with the question, then I will give them a - rating. And when they only have a few words to say, that is meaning less and just a waste of space...then, I will give them a - rating!!I just wonder if people really use the! button when they are not following the guidelines. I am sure if everyone did then, we would be responding to a handful of questions that are worthwhile! That would be GREAT!!!

I do use the rating system, but I only give a negative out when the person responding is totally off the wall or offensive, otherwise, I am just glad they responded and will always give a plus, my personal opinion does not matter here, we are all free to say whatever we feel about the discussion

I used that rating system of myLot in my discussion by not always. But the thing is, rating here + or - is very subjective. It depends on the perception of the rater, his mood and etc. This is not a reliable gage for quality posting either.

I always try for now on to make my responses as detailed and as relavent as possible. I hope I don't get too many negative ratings :) Ah sorry, just being my typical paranoid self! I am not sure if you are paid according to the rating system or not. How do you also know if you have been rated or not?? I still have a lot to learn as far as this place goes.

I try to rate everyone that responds to my discussions. I also usually rate the discussions I respond in too. I try not to give a neg rating because I disagree with them. I will if it's a neg response though. If I'm stuck in the middle I just won't rate it.
