A street is inside a town or city's limits.A road on the other hand can be in either a town/city or in the country side.Streets are usually paved while roads can be paved or gravel/dirt.Hope that helps.;-)

I usually think of a street as being more common in a city and a road being more common on the outskirts or in a rural area.

I heard about street dog, I never heard about road dog. That doesn't mean road has no dog at its disposal. But street dog is famous, hence street becomes great.

I think the difference is asphalt. The street needs is to be called a street, the road doesn't.
