Are we loosing our humanity?

Canada

I have noticed that we as humans seem to be loosing our humanity...loosing our ability to care for or fellow humans. I walk down the street and see alot of people not looking at you but through you. Pick up a news paper or turn on the television and see stories about people being killed or raped or beatenand hear about atrocious acts being commited by people against people and wonder if we have lost something...or if there is something within us that compells us to destroy one another

Yes,we are losing our humanity, due to consumerism, greed and luxury. We care for our tomorrows.Hence acuumulate wealth for ourselves and the following generations. Very few poeple,do not want more, even if it is unnecesary.Corporates and politicians add to this in their desire for welth and power.

I'm not sure we ever had that 'something' you say we may have lost. One day perhaps we will properly respect others regardless of race, religion, colour, looks and so on. I think it's easy to dwell on the bad in the world, there is also a lot of good - trouble is the media don't report that.

I have to agree to that. Did most of us ever had this "humanity"? Murders, rapes, all kinds of barbaric behavior have been part of human history for centuries. Yes, there is good, a lot of it, media doesn´t report it, because it does not get high ratings, part of guilty belong to those who watch tv, prefer to see the bad side of things and complain that "media shows only the worst".

yes, we are losing our humanity. coz people r no more afraid to God, not even to the cries of their own souls.

This is exactly what i was saying in another discussion regarding homeless people. Unfortunately we let ourselves driven by money and stop carrying for each other. We've became little robots, going to work everyday, eating, sleeping... we ceased to admire nature, to enjoy simple things in like, like rainbows, fireworks, sunsets. When i think that we are born so pure and free of worries related to what we become in life... it's just sad. Take care and since i see that you're new here... wellcome to myLot!

It depends on how you define humanity. Humanity itself quite a complex word - quite aptly because human is a complex individual. I may be isolationist but i am still human. I may have a thousand friends but it does not anything to my humanity. I may do inhuman acts but i am still in every respect a human being. There is nothing in us or in our humanity that makes us do evil/atrocious acts. Rather, it is what is about us or what has become us that make us do these things.

No, I don't think so. Because there are still good people around. Otherwise this world would have ended by now.
