What makes Soccer more popular than Cricket?

I think its the simplicity of the game which makes it more simpler to understand and play and also it is more accessible as u only need a football to play unlike cricket where u need a complete cricket kit to play.A shorter duration makes it better for the viewers.Cricket is very complex to understand with so many minor details n techniques. Cricket is a gentleman's game while football is the opposite,in football there is more passion & agression which the crowd love like the case of zidane's header.It makes the sport even more popular among the crowd.

Playtime is the more critical measure for the most of population to incline towards Foot Ball. Further entire teams available in the ground during the playtime, which is against to cricket where some players take rest in the dressing room.

soccer is played by more countries...and it ends in a lesser time

I think cricket is not in a very good state at the moment. Australia is probably the only good team and there is not much competition.. I am really worried being a cricket fan..
