Im a 52 yr old male smoker with high cholesterol. I need to quit smoking. Ive taken meds and wore patches and they both work but I constantly gain weight at those times. Any ideas other than exercise to try and help me quit smoking? All replies are greatly appreciated and needed. Thanks for this site and responses etc.

When ppl give up smoking, they tend to eat more without realizing they are and therefore gain weight. The couple times I tried quitting, I've caught myself doing that. Now when I crave a cigg, I just pop a couple pieces of a strong mint-type gum in my mouth and chew away. I also took up walking so now am I not only quitting smoking, I'm losing weight as well. Besides, my dog Domingo, needs the exercise so he reminds me every day he has to take me for a walk.
