I am 39 yrs old female and my doctor seem to think that I have had a mild stroke. We are still doing testing but until I am released from his care I am not allowed to return to work. Is there any resourses that I could request for financial help?

First go to your local County Assistance office with a paper from your doctor stating you are unable to work due to your illness, and have him put on there for how long you will be unable to work. Then apply for disbilty, but I have to tell you it is a long drawn out process, the first decision takes anywhere from 3 to 8 months and thats only if they get all the paperwork back in that time period, if you get denied you have to go through along process of appeals which I recommend you get an attorney for, they usually don't charge unless you win your case and then they take it out of the lumb sum you will get back. There are no promises though it takes forever, and you get discouraged when you get turned down. I know, I have been fighting them for two years now.

you could probably get disability since your doc wont let you work. I see this post was from 6 months ago so you might not even be in this predicament now?

depending where you live and in which country you are from.. in australia you would go to centrelink and ask to see a social worker, job capacity assessor, etc.. they are very helpful in advice and where you go from there.. give them a try

It'll all be dependant on your country, of which you didn't state. Most employers provide some form of sick pay, I'm assuming you're not entitled to that? Usually you get a 'sick-note' from your doctor and send it to your Employer. Check out local Citizen help organisations.

Try job and family services they will give you owf funds and foodstamps and medical coverage..there is a catch though...you nneed to have a form from the doctor that states you cannot return to work for *x* amount of time. The salvation army will help you will electric bills up to the amount of 200 dollars. You can also apply for pipp at you local community action council. It will lower your winter heating bills to a fixed ammount and give you emergency help in the ammount of 175 dollars. You can also apply for temporary disability at the social security office. You actually have to go in though. Fill out the forms there and they will let you know outside of 30 days.

Contact social services and obtain a letter from your doctor stating how long you'll be off work so that you can qualify for temporary disability or unemployment during your absence from work. Best of luck!!
