should police be able to clip kids round the ear again?

Today I was in my local town centre with my better half and our new born baby when two 13-14 year old lads were mucking about and nearly fell on the pushchair and put the baby at rish of bieng hurt, I shouted at them and told them to stop it. This is the kind of incident that could have been delt with by a god old clip round the ear. In a world of asbo's and youth crime would it not be better to return to the good old corpral punishment and clip round the ear days??

Hmm, maybe I'm a little late on this...What exactly is a "clip round the ear". Is it like pinching the ear? Sorry, I never heard of that term before.

Oh okay, hehe. If parents want to do it I suppose it's okay. But not a police officer or anyone else, I wouldn't let anyone hit my kid.

I completely agree with you. It didnt do us any harm to be smacked by our parents, or school children to get the cane, or as you said, the clip round the ear from the local bobby. At least we respected our elders which is more than they do now!
