All depend on your dad's advice. Has he given you some advice? To save the money on such things petrol, traffic, all problem with police and insurance. On school bus, you just sit and study while traveling to school. If you have car there are a lot of activies occuring besides your studies. More friends and more goings.

A car is something for someone is responsible, not someone who runs to Daddy to ask for it, take the iniatitive, work hard and buy it yourself. He'll respect you more.

Depends on how far you have to travel. My brother went to school in another city about 2 hrs away sp he needed a car. I went to school in a close by city, but there was no public transportation between the two cities. I think that it is a luxury most of the time unless you are in a degree program that requires you to stay late after public transportation doesn't run. Ask him to borrow the car a few times and he may just give in. Do you work? Maybe you should buy your own car.

When I was n college I took the bus...at one point it was several buses as I moved further away and didn't want to change schools...so I opted for the two hour bus ride..toddler in tow. Wasn't easy, but I did it. No one ever bought me a car but me. I think it helps you appreciate it more.
