Seems like all people like fast food: md donalds, wendy's , arbys, etc and home cooked meals that require time are being set aside. Which do you prefer? Home cooked meals or the fast food restaurant and why? ?

I like having a home cooked meal a large majority of the time. But sometimes I also like to treat myself & order some take out every once in a while. But I try not to make it a habit as I find cooking your own food at home can be so much healthier compared to ordering out. But a large majority of the time I'd have to say quite honestly that.. I really much rather enjoy cooking at home versus having to order in or turning to eating at a fast food restaurant. I find the process of cooking your own meals to be so much more fulfilling. The only thing I dislike about making a home cooked meal on my own is the process of having to clean up afterwards. I know that whenever I cook it tends to get rather messy in the kitchen. haha. I also like the idea of knowing what is going in to my food. And also making the food exactly how I want or like my food to be. I've found in the past when I've ordered out that sometimes you can tell someone how you'd like your meal cooked.. And they still don't make it quite like the way you'd want it to be made.. Plus I also know where my hands have been.. When ordering out you never know if the person had washed there hands.. Or if the food has fallen on the floor or if it had been washed before hand.. Sometimes when I order out I can't help but question how sanitary the kitchen is at the place I am ordering from.. At least when I prepare a home cooked meal I know that I have made sure to wash my hands before hand.. As well as wash my meat.. I like the idea of knowing what is going in to my food compared to not having a clue as to what has been put into my meal. I find sometimes when cooking my own meals that I can actually save more money or that it costs less for me to prepare a meal than to order one from a restaurant. For example, I do like KFC quite a lot but most of the time I cannot justify paying the prices they have for delivery and for their food in general. I could make the same meal using a coating mix for chicken and save myself probably half of the purchase price of the KFC order. In conclusion.. I find it much more satisfying to make a meal myself than to order a meal from a restaurant. I also find I can eat knowing I was sure where my food was and how it was handled because I touched it myself. I don't mind ordering out from time to time but I tend to lean towards cooking more because I know I can end up making something healthier in the long run. Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Well, I think the problem anymore, is a time constraint. I know for me lately on my 2 days off, it seems like we are so busy trying to run too and fro, that we never have time to eat here at home. And every other Wednesday which happens to be my day off, is also Payday for me, so it just seems I am always paying Bills etc. this day, and just too busy to get back home and fix something to eat. Don't get me wrong. I Love a home cooked meal as much as you or anyone else, and wish I could enjoy more of them. But I work the Swing shift so it is a luxury when I really do have the time to sit and enjoy one.

Not me -- I think there is nothing better than a good, hot, home-cooked dinner!

Fast food meals are more often than not very high in saturated fat and sodium, so while they are quick and easy, you will regret it in the long run. Home cooked meals are usually much healthier often containing multiple food groups.

we love both but only eat fast food when there is no time to cook or just plain bored. we prefer homecooking since it's healthier and saves money that way.

I like home cooked meals better than fast food, but there's a third possible choice: going to a restaurant. I think this is the best option, though it's not the cheaper.

I hate to cook, but if someone else was going to give me a choice between their home cooked meal and fast food I would take the home cooked meals everytime. They are so much better and if done right not as fattening as the fast food. I really love my MIL's homemade bread or homemade pancakes!!!! Those are my two favorites that she makes.

I would prefer home cooked meals but since I do not how to cook I usually eat something microwaveable or pick something up at subway or Boston Market. I stay away from Burger King, McDonalds and those types of places. Home cooked meals are healthier so I would choose that but need to learn how to cook.

Fish and Chips - Fish and Chips is very popular and quite cheap in England
I really dislike 'fast food' from big chains like McDonald's or Burgerking or the like. If I need to eat quickly, I will find a fish and chip shop or a kebab house or, more likely, go for a bar snack at a good pub. I live opposite a Chinese takeaway, a chip shop and an Indian restaurant which also does takeaway meals. We also have a small supermarket and all of these are within 200 yards. It actually takes me less time to cook a good stir-fry than it does to get one from any of those shops!

I prefer home cooked meals, I know what kind of food I like, then I can make whatever I want; also home cooked meal is more healthier than fast food. But sometimes I will go for fast food just change the regular taste, hehe
